Starting in the spring of 2016, Syncopation Dance Project began teaching youth classes at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bellevue. There were three classes we offered instruction for - Creative Movement for preschool students, Hip-hop for the K-5 group as well as Teens.
It was crucial for us that we offer these classes free of charge. 70% of the students come from economically challenged families. Under normal conditions they would not be able to afford these classes.
Teaching at Boys and Girls Clubs of Bellevue
On June 4th, 2016, we hosted a showcase titled, "Unity," with the purpose of providing our students the opportunity to perform. Tickets for the show were free, as we wanted friends and families of the students to be able to attend performances without worry over financial obligations.
Syncopation Dance Company performed multiple numbers in the show alongside the students to highlight different genres of dance, introducing different dance styles to the community as well as demonstrating what can be achieved with continued study.
