Who We Are

Syncopation Dance Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created by local dancers and choreographers in the greater Seattle area. Our mission is to reach out to the community and share a passion for dance, giving everyone from any background the opportunity to experience the art form.

Dance training is often costly, or entirely inaccessible. At Syncopation Dance Project, our goal is to offer dance opportunities through education, performances, and sponsorship to underprivileged and underserved members of our community. We aim to give back and offer anyone from any background the chance to dance.

Our History

Syncopation Dance Project was born from telling a story through dance.

Our Artistic Director Elbert Lubas was going through a rough time in his life. He approached other dancers and asked if he could create choreography with them to aid him in working through his struggle. That choreography eventually became, "Rise Up," a story we were able to tell through movement.

Using dance to express emotions isn't something everyone has the opportunity to experience. Realizing this, shortly after filming completed we founded Syncopation Dance Project. Now we work to give others the opportunities we have been fortunate to have.
